Identity: an exhibition of you - Premiere and Reception
Where: The Franklin Institute Science Museum
When: Thursday, November 15, 6PM – 10PM
Cost: Free! Reservations are required.
Learn how your brain recognizes yourself and your identities, with a lecture by Dr. Julian Paul Keenan – a consultant on the development of Identity: an exhibition of you and renowned specialist in self-recognition and self-deception. Following the lecture, explore the identities of others in a cocktail reception and preview the new, interactive exhibit BEFORE its public opening!
The Identity exhibit explores the physical, psychological and social elements in your life that make you tick. It’s an interactive look at how much of who you are is genetically influenced. Explore how the pattern of your fingerprints is genetic, but details – like the ridges – aren’t! Learn about new studies showing that there is no biological basis for race, and other research showing how we perceive differences in men and women where none actually exist.
Visitors to Identity will travel through different areas of the exhibition and participate in a variety of interactive vignettes and activities designed to explore genetic, cognitive, and social sciences.
Call 215.448.1231 from 9 AM through 5 PM for reservations.
